Mel + Kyle, A BlackHawk Country Club Fairytale Wedding
Mel and Kyle are adorable sweethearts and best friends! They were married on 09-05-2015 at Blackhawk County Club in Shorewood Village, Wisconsin. I had a blast with them and their friends and family. Firstly, Mel and her girls stole my heart because they are UW Eau Claire Alum! Go BLU GOLDS. We will never really know what a Blu Gold looks like but hey we love our Eau Claire! Secondly, the girls did a dance number to Britney Spears “Baby One More Time”. 1999 THROWBACK! They practiced while getting ready pre ceremony, and then performed the dance number right before the bouquet toss. It was super cute surprise for the guests and Kyle loved it!
A sign greeted guests as they walked in saying “Welcome to our Fairytale Wedding”. Mel’s favorite movie is Disney’s Tangled with Rapunzel. The guest book was a painted canvas of the lanterns at the end of Disney’s Tangled. Guest’s wrote best wishes in the lanterns for a unique guest book. And oh my goodness, the cake topper was super funny! It was a little figurine of Rapunzel hitting Spiderman over the head with her frying pan. To add to the fun, a life size cardboard cut out of Captain America was also a guest. Really it was Captain America with a picture of the groom’s brother for the face. Kyle’ s brother was not going to make it to the wedding, or so Kyle thought. Mel had a secret she had been keeping for quite some time. Kyle’s brother showed up at the rehearsal dinner as a special surprise. Of course Captain America got in on some family photo time.
Kyle and Mel also exchanged gifts pre ceremony. Kyle is her Mr. Giraffe, and Mel is Kyle’s Koala Bear. How adorable!! Kyle scored major husband points by getting Mel a stuffed Koala with diamond bracelet around it’s neck. Mel was so surprised and feeling the magic of her wedding day.
More surprises were in store right before Mel walked down the isle. An accidental surprise, but Kyle handled it with expert grace. THE moment right before the music changes, and we all turn to face the bride; the glasses for the wine pouring ceremony get knocked over by an aunt video recording the ceremony. They smashed rather well considering we were outside on the patio of the country club. Kyle looked at everyone and put his finger to his lips. “She doesn’t need to know.” The entire guest party and wedding party was laughing. Mel had to have wondered what the hold up was about. I’m not sure if she ever found out. New wine glasses were in place and smashed ones cleaned up in a matter of a minute thanks to quick staff at Blackhawk.
The rest of the wedding carried on accordingly, but Kyle had one more trick up his sleeve for the garter toss. After retrieving Mel’s garter, he stuffed it in pocket and pulled out a handkerchief to throw. That is his garter and he earned it! HA!
We went out in the evening one more time to get some fun night portraits of Mel and Kyle. And they live Happily Ever After.
I loved every second of this romantic fun filled wedding day. I wish them all the best and congrats once again. Kudos to Jeff Dostalek for being my wingman all day and capturing the first photo in this blog post.
