Mike and Charise 6.11.16 – A Lake Monona Wedding
Mike and Charise were married in his parents back yard overlooking Lake Monona. The setting was gorgeous and close the heart. Mike and Charise surrounded themselves with the people, places, and things they love the most. They love the lake, boats, Madison, and Wisconsin. But I’m pretty sure they love each other the most.
Did I mention they like boats and lakes? Their engagement session took place this fall at Devil’s Lake State Park. I should have caught on as to how much they loved lakes as they toughed out the engagement session with cold fall winds and a high of 33.
Mike told me he went to boat school in Maine. THAT is boat dedication!
After the ceremony the bridal party boarded a pontoon boat for a lake tour and champaign toast before arriving at the cocktail hour at the Monona Terrace Rooftop (where they had the first look).
More boat fun….For the reception table cards, Charise made over 150 little paper boats. There was a bottle for guests to write a message to the bride and groom, and oars for the guest book. Her Captain and His First Mate signs adorned their chairs at the head table. Charise gave her bridesmaids little bottles with messages inside. The boutineries had little ropes on them! AND they tied the knot during the ceremony. OH and the wedding guest programs listed the latitude and longitude of the ceremony location. I LOVED it! So creative and so very them!
Charise tied a momento to a lost friend that went missing out on his boat. He should have been there to share in their joy. But I think in spirit he was, because these two radiate love for all!
The first look was full with laughter, joy, tears and one “Holy Shit!” from Mike as he set eyes on his bride at the first look. I kept shooting but laughed hard while doing so. She was stunning!
A little country made an appearance as they danced the first dance to “I Don’t Dance” by Lee Brice.
Brothers, cousins, friends, and family all wished them well as the night wound down to the close. I was honored to be part of their day. And of course thanks to Wes Peck for seconding shooting for me!
Mike proposed to Charise on the rooftop of the Monona Terrace, so the last portrait I took was of them in that very spot on their wedding night. They are so happy in that moment! YEaaassss!
Congrats Mike and Charise!

Bling Details for the Bride
Mike surprised Charise with a wedding band as her gift. She just had finished explaining to me how they decided not to buy her a wedding band until later. Well, I was in on the secret, and she was thrilled!
Mike got a little boudoir to keep for himself of his beautiful bride.
Nice car? Hope the owner did not mind too much! lol Thanks Wes (my car photographer for grabbing this)
