Valentine’s Day Elopements – Madison Wisconsin Wedding Photographer
Two wedding ceremonies, two couples getting married on the same day! I was one happy photographer helping to capture moments of four people. I got to do two mini versions of a wedding shoot back to back in fast motion. FUN! (or maybe I’m crazy?) Either way this was a blessing all around.
Let’s look into the meaning of elope from Webster’s Dictionary.
1: to slip away : escapemight have mistaken him for … some scarecrow eloped from a cornfield — Washington Irving
2a : to run away from one’s husband with a loverb : to run away secretly with the intention of getting married usually without parental consent”
I hardly think this defines what I photographed on Valentines day. There was much parental consent and love. So what does it mean to elope today? So again I quote an article from the Merriam-Webster website.
“Yes, ‘elope’ has historically meant “to run away secretly with the intention of getting married usually without parental consent.” But it has also meant—and still means—”to escape.”
And that my friends is exactly what these couples did. They escaped the demands of having a huge wedding with all of the fuss and did it for themselves. Bravo! I love a big wedding, but sometimes it is nice to take a step back and really focus the couple, their love, and the marriage itself.
The first couple to say I do is Marina and Mark. She rocked her red shoes! And I absolutely love love love her hair! They opted from some pre ceremony photos outside and braved the cold. Then they said I do in front of three witnesses. What a short sweet and lovely affair, if I do say so myself.
The second couple is Jenny and Brandon. These two have been together for 9 years and have two beautiful children. They made it official by marrying on Valentines day. They also said yes to having Love Madison Weddings tag along for a live instagram feed of their ceremony. Check it out here! For their willingness to participate they received a familymoon courtesy of Chula Vista, a family photo package from me, a gift certificate from Cold Stone Creamery, Flowers from Elegance and Design Studio, and a Cake from Sweet Hartley’s. WOW WOW WOW!
Congrats to both couples !
Cheers – Erin Melissa

Secondly and in that order, Jenny and Brandon said I do under the Capitol Dome.
